This Privacy Policy describes how Profet ("Profet," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with your access to and use of profet.markets (the "Platform" or the "Service"). This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect a username and password. Your password is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash and is never stored or accessible in plain text.
Optional information. You may choose to provide an email address (used to let you recover your account and, if you opt in, to send you the emails described in Section 3), a birth year, a country, and how you heard about the Platform. None of this information is required to create an account or to use the Service.
Trading and activity data. We record every order, trade, position, and ledger entry associated with your account, together with your activity on community features such as comments, leagues, and challenges. This data is the core function of the Service, not incidental to it.
Technical and usage data. We automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, including your IP address (used, among other things, to make a best-effort, non-binding guess at your country for display purposes), device and browser type, pages viewed, and, where applicable, the website that referred you to the Platform.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and comparable technologies (such as browser local storage) that are strictly necessary to operate the Service, for example to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. Where we use any analytics or advertising technology that is not strictly necessary, it is described in Section 6 below.
If you provide an email address, you may separately opt in, at signup or at any time in Settings, to receive periodic summaries of your activity on the Platform (daily, weekly, and/or monthly, each an independent choice). Every such email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that works without requiring you to log in, and unsubscribing from one cadence does not affect any other. We do not send you any such email unless you have opted in, and we never pre-select any opt-in on your behalf.
We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary course of business. We may share information in the following circumstances:
Your username, trading history, leaderboard standing, badges, and any comments or content you post are visible to other users of the Platform as an inherent part of how the Service operates. Your email address, birth year, and country are never displayed publicly.
In addition to the strictly necessary cookies described in Section 1, we may use privacy-conscious analytics tools, which may include Google Analytics where enabled, to understand aggregate usage of the Platform. We do not currently display third-party advertisements on the Platform. We may in the future introduce contextual or interest-based advertising, which may involve third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense) setting cookies on your device and using information about your visits to this and other websites to serve advertisements. Before enabling any such advertising for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any other jurisdiction that requires prior consent, we will implement an appropriate consent mechanism and will update this Policy accordingly.
We retain personal information for as long as your account remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and maintain the integrity of resolved markets and the leaderboard. We retain aggregated or de-identified data, which is no longer linked to an identifiable individual, for as long as it remains useful to us.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal), and to receive a copy of your information in a portable format. You can exercise many of these rights directly, at any time, from Settings, where every optional field may be added, corrected, or cleared, and where you can withdraw the data-sharing consent described in Section 4. For any request we cannot fulfil directly through Settings, including a request for a full copy or deletion of your data, contact us using the details in Section 12. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, in each case subject to certain exceptions. We do not sell or share personal information other than the aggregated or de-identified data described in Section 4, which is disclosed only for accounts that have affirmatively opted in and may be stopped at any time from Settings. We do not discriminate against any user for exercising these rights.
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without the consent required by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
Information we collect may be stored and processed in a country other than your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection. We maintain technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including one-way hashing of passwords, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to make it apparent, such as updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after a revised Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of it.
